Downloaded all new firmware for K3 and P3.  Looked at KPA500 new version
check and was unable to connect. Saw a message I've never seen before..

KPA waiting for Power button or firmware load.  RS232  38400

Has always worked before????  Double checked all cable and com port.

Any help, please.

I saw this recently too. Have you tried hard power-cycle (i.e. using
the switch on the back, not the button on the front) ?

Re: KPA500 Utility Com 1

Dick Dievendorff
This is what the KPA500 would normally look like when the front panel power
is off.  It's the KPA500 boot block code's response.

If the KPA500 is turned "on" and has a valid firmware load, it should
respond differently.

Re: KPA500 Utility Com 1

Iain MacDonnell - N6ML-2
In that (off) state, the KPA500 seems to echo back anything you send
to it, unless it recognises a power on, or firmware load, command.
e.g. if I send "^OS;", I get "^OS;" back. Presumably the utility is
looking for a response like that, to determine the "off" state? If so,
it would presumably infer this state from any device that echos back
what it sent to its serial port, so if Phil had the Utility configured
to talk to the wrong port, where such a device is connected, that
could cause the symptom observed.

Having thought about it some more, I now remember that I saw this
message (in a popup window, as opposed to the status bar) when I had
the KPA Utility pointed to the port that my KAT500 is now connected
to.
