KPA500 assembly problem

WM3M
This is my first post here, I received my KPA500 kit this week.
I was hoping to get it running this weekend.  I am about halfway through the assembly.
I have found that the 10 wire ribbon cable, part # E850479, is made wrong.  The connectors on both ends should be the same but they are not.  Different pins are blocked on the connectors.  One will go on the board connectors ok but the other will not, with the wrong pin blocked.
As best I can tell the blocked part of the connector is solid and part of the connector and does not come out?  Reversing the connectors or taking them apart does not help since the wrong pin on one of the connectors is blocked.  I assume the connectors are made that way and there is no way to unblock the pin?
I guess I have to wait till Monday and contact support.  I don’t know of local source of that type of connector and I don’t have any.  Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks 73

Re: KPA500 assembly problem

Sorry to see that problem still persists, I ran into the same issue when I built mine last year.

It's very simple to fix.  Take a small sewing needle, or a small paper clip, insert it into that blocked pin, and start to pick at the 'plug' until you remove it.  From what I recall it's a relatively small plug that doesn't go all the way into the connector.

The other alternative is to use a computer hard drive cable, or floppy cable I don't remember which one.  That's all that cable is, there's nothing special about it.  However you might find the same blocked pin on a computer cable.

The 'block' is usually rubber plug and can be removed.  Use a pointy thingy to pry it up a bit and remove with tweezers.

Thanks to all who replied with help.
The problem described in bad keyed cables email is what I have.
Before my post I tried to pry out the plug but it would not come out.
I used a pin and dug it out, piece at a time.
Checked it and it seems to be making a connection.
Thanks... 73
