KPA500 kit with problems

Ron W3ZV
It appears that I am the problem. Somehow I have messed up a perfectly good KPA500 kit.

I purchased the cable kit for the KPA500. I have the 15 pin cable connected from the K3 to the KPA500. The major problem seems to be a lack of two way communication between the KPA500 and the K3. Making changes on the K3 has no effect on the KPA500. The KPA500 does not change bands, or show any output on the meter. Using the band buttons on the KPA500 produces erratic results on the KPA500 display. Pushing the 20 meter band button changes the display to 15 meters. The 12 meter button changes the display to 6 meters. The strange thing is that the K3 changes to the band indicated on the KPA500 band button. I checked the 15 pin cable connections and it looks good.

I spoke to Elecraft support. The suggestion was to open up the amp and check the ribbon cables. I did this and as far as I can tell, the cables were all good. Red line to pin 1. All pins covered. Of course this happens on a Friday night before a holiday weekend.

Anyone want to take a shot a bailing out the guy with ten thumbs?

Hi Ron

I seem to recall that I had a similar sort of problem when I first
connected my KPA500. I think it was either that I had plugged in the cable
from the K3 into the wrong socket on the back of the KPA500 - there are
two- and/or I had not enabled the KPA500 in the K3 menu.

Perhaps you can recheck those.
