Wow Mike, that's really bad luck and very frustrating. I've been about to order a KPA500 to go with my K3, but after your story, I might hang back a while. Bad news about having to ship your amp back, but not as expensive has having to ship it back to the US from down here. I wouldn't like to have to face that cost. But what puts me off the most is that there are "mods/upgrades" being done to serial # 26. I might wait a while before hitting the order button. Hope all gets sorted out for you Mike. As someone else said, at least you're dealing with Elecraft and you can be sure it WILL be sorted out in a timely manner. 73, John VK7JB ------------------------------------------------------------ This email was sent from Netspace Webmail: http://www.netspace.net.au ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Thanks for the suggestions Ron.
>First, what size fuses did you put in? There are two different ratings >supplied: 6A for 240 volt mains and 12A for 120 volt mains. The fuses were the 12A ones (I still have the 6A ones in their unopened envelope.) >Before you turn on the unit with the new fuses, check the transformer tap >setting as described in the Owner's manual under "Installation". I checked the tap is yellow as it should be. The measued AC is 120V. I will go to the store this morning a buy a few more fuses and give it another try. The fuse holder looks good. It is positioned so 115V appears through the fuse window, and it looks like the contacts are aligned correctly to mate with the top two and bottom two clips on the inside of the fuse holder. (If it were placed in the 230V position the contacts would mate with the upper one, middle two and bottom one clips.) Other than defective fuses, I can't understand why they would blow. Hmmmmmm. Wayne did contact me and I am sure we will get this all sorted out. Still the best products from the best company in my book. Just a spot of bad luck for me. You can check out my station picture on QRZ.com and see my K-line in place on my limited desktop. ..mike ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
