I've just finished installing a KRX3 with the KBPF3 and when I push
the sub button it tells me "NO SUB". I have been through the menus several times, setting up the filters and modes and bandwidths for the main and the sub receiver but I still get the same error when I try to select the sub receiver. I have also selected the KBPF3 for the sub receiver, but it doesn't ask me about setting up the KBPF3 for the sub. I assumed you would have to tell it when to use the KBPF3 as with the other filters. Maybe this is done automatically when going outside the amateur bands. I seem to recall something about this. I'm sure I have missed something. Can someone help? This is the very first time I have installed something in the K3 (or the K2) that didn't work. Still looking through the manual, Stan Rife W5EWA ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

The most obvious question: Did you set CONFIG:KRX3 to "Ant=bnc" or
"Ant=Atu"? (as opposed to "not inSt") 73 -- Joe KB8AP On Jan 10, 2010, at 5:58 PM, <[hidden email]> wrote: > I've just finished installing a KRX3 with the KBPF3 and when I push > the sub button it tells me "NO SUB". Did you power cycle the radio after enabling the additional features in
the menu? And you can hit SUB while in the KBPF3 feature menu to turn on which RX you've installed the filter into. Yes the radio does automatically select it when travelling outside the ham bands. ~BTH (KC7OTG) On Sun, 2010-01-10 at 19:58 -0600, [hidden email] wrote: > I've just finished installing a KRX3 with the KBPF3 and when I push > the sub button it tells me "NO SUB". I've sent a bunch of replies and they all went to the individuals instead of going to the reflector. Sorry about that folks.
Yes, the power cycle did fix part of my problem. I could then see the SUB come on. I also encountered an ERR PL2 error code. I had to go in and re-calibrate the VCO for the sub receiver. I had somehow messed that up. Whenever I pressed the ATU TUNE button I would get an ERR TXF error. Looked that up and figured out that I was transmitting on the wrong bandwidth for CW. There is an awful lot to do when setting up 10 filters for the K3 and the SUB receiver. I finally got it all correct I think, but I still had no audio for the SUB receiver. After reading the instructions I realized that I had to set the number of speakers to ONE, and then I had audio as well as receive signal from the SUB receiver. I need to get some stereo speakers. I have more reading to do.
