Hi All,
Just installed a KUSB to run my K3, but it doesn't seem to want to install correctly under Vista. I've tried just plugging in the cable and letting Vista install the drivers automatically. I've also tried downloading the drivers from prolific and loading them manually, and finally I've also tried installing the drivers from the supplied disk. In each case I can see the device in Device Manager, listed as 'Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (Port 5)', but it shows the little yellow '!', and it says that the 'Device Cannot Start. (Code 10). The Driver version is listed under 3.0.0.0 under the Driver Tab, which I believe should be 2.0.2.8 ?? Any ideas what I'm doing wrong ?? Hi
I don't have my K3 yet but I have had a problem like this with digital camera firmware update. The problem was the Vista firewall. I had to turn off the firewall to get it to work. Anyway it may be worth a try Don Brown KD5NDB > From: [hidden email]> To: [hidden email]> Date: Sat, 8 Mar 2008 10:35:03 +1100> Subject: [Elecraft] KUSB - Vista Issues> > Hi All,> > Just installed a KUSB to run my K3, but it doesn't seem to want to install > correctly under Vista.> > I've tried just plugging in the cable and letting Vista install the drivers > automatically. Has anyone tried using the Keyspan USB adapters with the K3? I have
one 4 port and 2 single adapters working very well on Vista 32 home premium edition, and I'm trying to find out if they will work ok with the K3. Actually one of these is working with the K2 and I have had no problems. I've used the Keyspan 4 port adapter for years on XP, with all sorts
of devices, including my K2. Right now it is tied to my mac, and my K3. No issues seen from either OS. Of course Vista is a different beast, but if it is working fine on your K2, I doubt you will have any issue with the K3. Let us know how it goes. 73, Dale On Mar 7, 2008, at 9:43 PM, Stan Rife wrote: > Has anyone tried using the Keyspan USB adapters with the K3? Stan,
The K3 responds to a few more of the RS-232 signal lines than the K2, but if it is working on the K2, it is quite likely to work with the K3. Some USB to serial adapters have trouble at low speeds, but work OK at higher speed. If your adapter has this problem, the K3 can operate at faster data rates than the K2, so bump up the rate and try it again if you encounter problems. 73, Don W3FPR Stan Rife wrote: > Has anyone tried using the Keyspan USB adapters with the K3?
