KX 2 quick memories

Could use some help on storing/recalling the quick memories for the KX2. Whenever I try to start the procedure by holding down the STORE key it reverts to an already stored 'number' memory (e.g.5) and doesn't allow me to store the current VFO A into a quick memory. Any thoughts?
