My new KX1 works great! I finished it this afternoon. Many thanks to Scott for sending the washer and screw I was missing (I'm sure I misplaced them somewhere along the line). Have already made a couple of contacts on 30 meters_ one in GA, and the other in WI_ running 3 watts to a Par end-fedz. My report was 559 for each.
BTW, my output is as follows:
with 13.8 V, 3.9 W
with 12V, 3.0 W
with 9.3V, 1.7 W
That is for 30 and 40 meters. On 20 I get about .3 W less at the respective voltages.
Building the KX1 and options was great fun, as I took my time. And I never would have thought that QRP could be such fun, and work so well, even near the low of the sunspot cycle.
Thanks Elecraft! Well done.
73 to all,
John, W2GW
