KX1 Antenna - light!

WA3WSJ
Hello all,

The other week I bought a 40 foot spool of "bead wire."
Today I tied a fishing swivel to one end and then added
Around 40' of 30lb test fishing line. On the other end I
took off about 1/2" of the plastic coating. The whole
radiator assembly fits on the original bead-wire spool and is
narrow and even has a plastic snap cover to keep the wire and line on
the spool.

I also added another radial wire to the other two for a total of
Three ground radial wires of 16' each. My KX1 tunes this configuration
1.1:1 on 40m, 1.0:1 on 30m and 1.2:1 on 20m. I'll give this a try in the
field!

Oh yes the whole radiator wire spool weighs-in at less than an ounce!

Ed,
Are you talking about wire used for making jewelry? Thats what I came up with when I googled. What gauge did you use?
Although I don't have a need to be that weight concious, it is an interesting idea. I plan on using my K1 camping some. You say the radiator and the radials fit into the spool?
