Folks:
If you have my CW Tuning Indicator installed in your KX1, PLEASE READ THE
FOLLOWING NOTE from Bruce Beford, N1RX.
Apparently, the point at which I originally instructed builders to attach
the +DC wire
I have a corrected set of installation docs available on my web site.
PLEASE NOTE that this correction is NOT currently reflected in the
pictures which are shown in the KX1 installation docs, but it WILL be shown
as soon as I can get a good quality picture from Pete, NU6Q, who provided
the original photos. Hopefully in a few more days.
Sorry for this error. It should not have occurred.

>Subject: Error in Tuning indicator instructions for KX1?
>
>Hi, Tom.
>
>I have purchased several of your SMD tuning indicator kits and like them
>very much. I have one in my K2, and one in my KX1. I pulled the KX1 down
>off the shelf the other day for a demo, and noticed the internal lithium
>batteries were dead. Strange- they were ok last time I used the radio, and
>no switches were apparently left on.
>
>Then I got to thinking. What if I wired the tuning indicator power wrong,
>and it was on all the time? I popped some fresh batteries in, and checked
>for power where the red and black wires feed up to the tuning indicator
>board. Sure enough there was power applied to the tuning indicator board,
>even with the power switch off. Looking at the board traces, I could see
>that the connections were made to the traces that are "hot" all the time.
>Must be my mistake. I corrected the connection for the positive voltage to
>the side of the switch that only has power when the switch is on. Problem
>solved.
>
>I then checked the instruction pdf file I downloaded from your website.
>Sure enough, the picture you have on page 10 tells one to connect the red
>wire exactly where I did. So.... This picture should be corrected when you
>get a chance. The wire should go to the upper-most pad for the switch.
>This will prevent the tuning indicator from draining the internal
>batteries of the KX1 when the power switch is off.
>
>Hope this helps,
