KX1 K1 K2 and K3 - What's a Wiki?
Whether you own a KX1,K1,K2, or have a K3 coming, you probably have something to say about it. Something relevant and factual that may be on your own website, in your notes, or even in your head. How can you and your friends easily share this information? How can other people that are just entering your area of interest find the contributions of yourself and your friends in one, unified easy location. The answer is the wiki. There is now a wiki for Elecraft KX1/K1/K2. There is not much there right now, but there will be if you bring it. "If you bring it, they will come." There is also a new wiki for the Elecraft K3. You have to wonder how much shared information there could be for a product that is not yet shipping in volumes yet, but here is one example. N1EU Barry has a very elaborate website that he supports and he has done quite a bit with contesting and diversity mode reception. Much of what he has documented already pertains and applies to the new K3. As it develops, many would be interested to know how the K3 features diversity mode reception in real life. Barry has graciously added a section to the K3 wiki documenting what we know so far about this, and provided links to his website and other experts websites about this topic. How many topics might there be today, or in the future that might be elaborated on? It's pretty much endless, the thing to remember is that there is a single point of entry for all of this good information for KX1, K1, and K2: http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/KX1_K1_K2_Wikipedia_at_ZeroBeat.NET and the point of entry for K3 is: http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/K3_Wikipedia_at_ZeroBeat.NET These are works in progress, but we have it started. Please stop by, visit, and decide if there is a page of information you can share. The list sysop will tell you how to add your page and will link it into the system, given the eham experience we cannot allow pages to be changed or added immediately. Anyone that adds a page may at some point have it edited for spelling, etc. but for the most part it's first come first serve on posting your pages, after that they're protected. We're fully aware that this does not fit the purists view of the wiki, but given the subject and scope of Elecraft transceivers this will be the most effective. I hope everyone bookmarks these two pages and finds that they would suggest them to anyone that's mildly curious about the respective page's topics. Also before posting any general questions to the reflector, these pages should really get a visit. Not only is the official Elecraft K3 FAQ available on the wiki, but also user contributed FAQ's as well. I'd like to extend a speial invite to Eric, Wayne, and Lisa Jones - I'm sure everyone would like to know what's going on in her world right about now. ;-) the testers too! de wb8yqj http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/KX1_K1_K2_Wikipedia_at_ZeroBeat.NET http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/K3_Wikipedia_at_ZeroBeat.NET _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
