I've finally begun building my KX1, s/n 1005. It's been an easy build
thus far. I've just finished the receiver alignment. Elecraft, WHAT did you put inside those components?!? With a 20' piece of wire (lying on the floor) attached to the antenna jack center pin, I'm pulling in tons of stations on 20 and 40m! Great sounding receiver! I've already built a couple of K2's and a K1, and I have to say that this little KX1 is a gem! I used a DMM, a QRP wattmeter, dummy load, power supply, ruler, and a
piece of wire for an indoor antenna through an antenna tuner. I also checked out the KX1 signal with another receiver. If you homebrew stuff, you probably have the tools that you need. You will need a cutter that can do a good flush cut for building the KX1. -Mike W2VD Paul Gates wrote: >Could you tell me what essential test equipment do you need to build the >Elecraft kits. Paul Gates asked:
Could you tell me what essential test equipment do you need to build the Elecraft kits. I do have a K1 but I did not build it. -------------------------- Go to www.elecraft.com and download the manual for the kit you are planning to build. In the first several pages will be complete details about the essential tools and recommended tools for that kit. Also in the front sections of the manuals is information to help you positively identify the parts in your kit and hints to help you avoid assembly mistakes. This is great stuff to look at while you're waiting for your kit to arrive so you can be ready to 'dig in' when the box arrives from Elecraft.
