KX1/ Pedestrian Mobile @ Lobstercon

Michael Babineau
While at Lobstercon this past weekend, in a moment of true insanity,
I decided to try operating in the IARU HF contest as a 20M pedestrian
mobile station with my KX1 .

I ran 1 watt  into a 4ft base loaded 20M telescopic whip attached to
the rig's
BNC connector and a 14.5 ft trailing wire attached to one of the screws
holding the back of the case on.

Standing out in the middle of a field at the campground with the KX1 in
my hand, I managed to work 3 stations in about 30 minutes of operating
with the best DX being F5VHY.

Is this fun or what?

P.S  SWR was 1.3 :1 using the KXAT1 internal tuner.

I forgot to mention that I  used Wayne's KX1 Mini-log with great
success.

Also I used a lanyard designed for cellphones and attached it underneath
the KXPD1 paddles so I had some "insurance" in case I dropped the rig.
It worked like a charm.
