KX1 Resistance checks

EMD
Well I finished phase II and I have a problem with the resistance checks with U6. Pin 3 should be > 10k but I am reading .1 to .2 ohms.  The next thing on Pins 1 and 2 are showing 0.F M ohm which I think indicates infinite resistance so I think thats okay?  I checked for a cold solder joint and it looks good so I think U6 is dead.  If so how do you replace U6?

Ed,

KX1 U6 pin 3 is connected to ground, so you should have a very low
resistance reading.  The resistance chart on page 42 3rd item from the
bottom indicates that the reading should be less than 5 ohms.
It sounds like yours passes with flying colors.

I cannot comment correctly on the high resistance reading from your
particular DMM, but you may want to consult the instruction sheet for
that DMM.
Infinite resistance should appear the same as the reading wihich you
obtain with both probes out in thin air,  touching nothing.

Re: [Elecraft] KX1 Resistance checks

Hi Don,

Your correct!  I think I needed to take a break.  As far as my DMM is concerned it reads 0.F M ohm when the probes are not in contact with anything so once thanks for the information.
