Hello Everybody.
We have reached the Alignment and Testing Part I as outlined in the manual. It was very exciting when we turned on the LED and saw that bright glow. Turning on the main power switch however was not as exciting (yet.) There was no smoke, no burning smell or warm components, but there also was no LED display. The voltage checks all came out OK Any suggestions as to where to begin ... or potential typical downfalls that we may have stumbled onto. Thanks. 73/72 Jeff - VA3JFF Wendy - VE3TKS KX1 #631 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. These should be the big ones based on the schematic:
Make sure U1 is oriented correctly. I would normally check the orientation of the resistor pack for the display, but it looks by the pinout that it can be reversed with no ill effect (check it anyway though, as I may be wrong). U1 is powered by U8, so I would check that U8's orientation is correct. Check for a positive voltage at the (+) terminal of C7 (not sure it is installed yet, but I think it is) when the power switch is on (the light works with the power on or off so it is no test of voltage going to the voltage regulators with the power switch on). Test of +5V at pin 20 of U1 with the power switch on. hope this helps kb3ipe dt . --- Jeff Hetherington <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hello Everybody. > > We have reached the Alignment and Testing Part I as outlined in the manual. > It was very exciting when we turned on the LED and saw that bright glow. > Turning on the main power switch however was not as exciting (yet.) > > There was no smoke, no burning smell or warm components, but there also was > no LED display.
