To change the subject a bit, after thinking and comparing the K1 and KX1
the past couple months, I am considering purchasing a KX1 in the near future. I'm basically interested in it as a first "real" CW rig (other than the 40m Rock-Mite I've built and the SW+ 40m that is in the mail to me soon from Small Wonder Labs). The addition of th 30m and 80m board and coverage of the SW broadcasts is attractive as well. Those of you who have the KX1 (or decided against purchasing it), what improvements, add-ons, fixes, etc. would you suggest for this little radio? Thanks. -john W4PAH _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. Well, the optional paddle should be revisited. It works, nothing to say to
it; and it is quite rugged as well. But the feeling is, well, kind of "rubberized"; i feel it's a little difficult to become accustomed to it. As an emergency paddle, it is ok. 73, IK4YNG Paolo -----Messaggio originale----- Da: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] Per conto di Bob C. Hi John:
I send Bob's statement ! You'll have a lot of fun with it. If there is only one thing that I would recommend, it would be getting good ear buds or headset. The audio output is light and I find my volume control nearly always maxed out. 73, Jamie WB4YDL -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Bob C. Look at the db/mW ratings on the back before buying earbuds. For
example, 106db/mW is the $10 Sony MDR series that Elecraft recommends. There are some Sony 103dB/mW ones as well that might be OK, but they are actually more expensive. There are Phillips and other brands in the 96 db/mW range and I suspect these are the type that cause problems. I have recently seen 112dB/mW ones for $30 at the Apple Computer store (not Apple branded), and was tempted to try them but it wasn't convenient to purchase them at the time. Bring your reading glasses, as the print of these specs is usually microscopic. 73, Leigh/WA5ZNU On Sat, 5 May 2007 11:02 am, James C. Hall, MD wrote: > Hi John: > > I send Bob's statement !
