When I power up on the initial board test, I get only two backward h's in the right portion of the LCD.
Any idea what the problem is? I went back over the work and reheated solder joints. I went through the manual again checked that I had instsalled all to this point. U1 seems to be seated okay in the holder. Thanks, Mike K1 SN #150 |
U1 appears to be the wrong part. It should say "KX1 1.02".

Thanks Craig. It was the only 28 pin IC included. I wonder what the XV 1.6e designation is? I guess I will find out soon…

"XV 1.6e" is a transverter part. I bet it got tossed into the wrong bin in
the kitting area. I'm sure Elecraft will send you a replacement on Monday if you ask. The good news is it lights up, so power must be getting to at least some of the parts. :-) Craig -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Mike KB4WJA Sent: Saturday, May 02, 2009 10:31 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KX1 initial LCD test Thanks Craig. Mike,
Craig is correct - that firmware chip is for the XV series of transverters. Send a note to [hidden email] and request the correct KX1 firmware chip - the label should say KX1 1.02. Someone apparently put XV firmware chips into the KX1 bin when they were programmed. Sorry you have to wait for a new chip, but it will not be long before you have the correct one. 73, Don W3FPR Mike KB4WJA wrote: > Thanks Craig. It was the only 28 pin IC included.
