KX1PWRMODKIT question

John Shadle
As I'm working through my KX1 assembly (starting part 2 tonight) I was
wondering if I should go ahead and install the KX1PWRMODKIT (basically
replacement resistors for R11 and R30 to ensure expected power out on
the transmitter).

The text of the KX1PWRMODKIT states that "Some KX1s have slightly lower
transmitter output...". Should I check to see if I have these symptoms
before installing or just go ahead and perform the modifications as I
perform part 3 of the assembly?

Thanks, as always.

Re: KX1PWRMODKIT question

John,

Do not install the Power Mod unless it proves necessary.  If you cannot
achieve 3 to 4 watts output on all bands with a 12 volt power supply,
you will need the change.  But if you can achieve 3 to 4 watts out,
adding the mod will only stress the components in the transmit chain.

As stated in the instructions, only some KX1s require the mod.  Those
that do not need it should not have the mod installed.

So build it first, and then add the mod if it is required.
