In the past I've been able to connect my KX2 to a VMware Win 7 computer
using an Elecraft-supplied USB-Serial adapter, the kind with a 3/4" x 2" USB plug and a 1/8" TRS plug that goes to the ACC socket on the KX2. But I hadn't used it for a while and now the Device Manager reports no driver installed, probably due to an intervening OS update but I don't really know that. Searching the machine and the galaxy for a suitable driver returns (after about 10 minutes) a pop-up that says "Windows encountered a problem ... attempted to install ... timeout period expired." Any advice? Thanks & 73, /Rick N6XI -- Rick Tavan Truckee, CA ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
Go to Elecraft website, DOWNLOADS ( firmware) and look for the Utility. Near there should be link for FTDI drivers for said USB cable.

Rick,
Go to the FTDI wesite and download and install the drivers. Do not let Windows try to find the drivers on its own. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/27/2018 8:52 PM, Rick Tavan wrote: > In the past I've been able to connect my KX2 to a VMware Win 7 computer > using an Elecraft-supplied USB-Serial adapter, the kind with a 3/4" x 2" > USB plug and a 1/8" TRS plug that goes to the ACC socket on the KX2.
