Does this device have a "name" yet?
The KX3 sounds neat, but I'd love to get my hands on a 100w amp for 5/10w radios. Will it be a solder kit or modular like the K3? -john W4PAH ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
I'm sure it will be modular.
We are witnessing the fruits of the investment Elecraft began making a few years ago in DSP development and SMD manufacturing. Combined with the improvements in low-power devices for use in the mobile phone / tablet markets and Wayne's love of trail-friendly radios, the KX3 was almost inevitable. While I would like new kits, too, and will continue to build out my K2 station, the features and capabilities of the new Elecraft product lines are very compelling. With the base model K3 starting at $1500 it seems to me the basic 5/10W KX3 will likely range between $900 and $1200. Maybe more...hard to say.
Anyone else care to speculate? 73, Ken Alexander VE3HLS ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Let's see if I have this right: No one on this list save the Elecraft
Insiders, and possibly a few hundred now gathered around the Elecraft booth in Dayton, have ever seen a KX3, let alone built one, taken one apart, or used one. In fact, except for the fact that Wayne's announcement occurred in mid-May and not 1 April and we all tend to trust Elecraft 24/7/365 anyway, most of us can't even be sure the KX3 actually exists. None the less, we have ideas for using the unseen KX3, suggestions for design changes and enhancements, and estimates of pricing, all within the space of one solar day. Who'd have ever thunk? :-) 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2011 Cal QSO Party 1-2 Oct 2011 - www.cqp.org On 5/19/2011 9:55 AM, Ken Alexander wrote: > With the base model K3 starting at $1500 it seems to me the basic > 5/10W KX3 will likely range between $900 and $1200.
