So, I saw that KX3 Kit Builder Alert posted yesterday. Even though I was confident that I did not use the wrong length of screws on the battery holder I decided to check anyway.
I had a real heck of a time removing the batteries. I mean, really! I am worried that if I go through this again I could easily damage the insulated casing of the battery. Does anyone have a suggestion to making this task easier. Do you use a tool that will not damage, if so, what is it? I use a not very sharp small flat bladed screwdriver and lightly pry on the plus side of the battery against the battery holder side (lever it up). The plus side comes up fairly easily and I can remove the battery.

A short piece of ribbon under/around one battery makes it easy to remove
the first battery in the set. Rich,
Great idea -- I should have thought of that because my Hiking GPS meter uses ribbons under the batteries. phil On Jan 19, 2013, at 11:29 AM, Rich <[hidden email]> wrote: > A short piece of ribbon under/around one battery makes it easy to remove the first battery in the set. > > Rich > NU6T > > On 1/19/2013 11:12 AM, hawley, charles j jr wrote: >> I use a not very sharp small flat bladed screwdriver and lightly pry on the plus side of the battery against the battery holder side (lever it up). I took this opportunity to install ribbons on mine, too. Was certain it was
only a matter of time until I gouged a battery case. I'm also convinced the problem is more that the screw holes are not countersunk than screw length.
