[KX3] External Key Timing Measurements

John Oppenheimer
Unlike the K3 and K2, the KX3 has unequal external key on and off
delays. If using an external keyer, an 8 ms Keying Compensation will
adjust for correct key timing.

Example scope shots using a CMOS-4 keyer are here:

Thanks John - I've been hoping to find some analysis of KX3 CW timing. Do
you know if the on/off delay differences are constant across keying speeds?
Have you looked at timing when using the built-in paddle?

I prefer using the KX3 in its QRP / built-in paddle configuration and don't
expect (or need) K3-like performance and accuracy from it, but I'm curious.

I have updated the page with a 30 WPM scope shot. Yes, the delay remains
constant.

I posted the KX3 internal keyer measurements earlier this morning.
Summary; the internal keyer needs to be set to a Weight of 1.20 for a
1:1 sending Weight.
