KX3 + KPA500

Elecraft mailing list
FYI,

I don't have a K3, but my KX3 drives my KPA500 to around 175-200 W,
depending upon band and mode.  This is especially useful on 6m, which my  Orion II
does not cover.  On HF and 160m, the Orion easily drives the  KPA500 to
full power with 30-40 W in.  On the HF bands I usually  run the KX3 barefoot
with a PX3.  Lots of fun.

KX3 + KPA500

Johnny Siu
Hello Ray,
I would like to see KPA500 can be driven by KX3 to 300W.  Apparently, I feel that KX3 has a better ear than K3 in 6m
I was also told that there was some FCC regulation in the dB gain of linear amplifier so that the power gain in KPA500 was limited.  We don't have such regulation in Hong Kong,
Of course, it is too greedy to expect the KX3 can drive KPA500 to full power.  However, 300W could be a good compromise.
