The KX3 mic input uses a multi barrel jack plug which enables up & down
channel changing using buttons on the hand mic. I an regular stereo jack is placed into the socket, the radios VFO start to change continuously. To use digital modes, I need to use the mic input to connect to my sound card. There appears to be a setting on the Configuration menu to turn off the up/down and PTT but this is non functional. When selected on the menu by VFOB the options on VFO A say n/a. So the question is - how do I provide an input to the Mic socket on the KX3 without having this problem? Does anyone know of a solution to this issue. 73 Hugh EI9KF ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hugh - I would have thought the best solution would be to buy the
correct 4-pole 3.5mm jack plug. These are a standard item available from all good component suppliers. In the UK we have them at Maplin.co.uk under part number QT65V. Perhaps a search on eBay might bring up a supplier nearer you. Shorting out connections on a jack socket cannot be a good thing by using the wrong sort of plug. 73 de David G4DMP In a recent message, Hugh Bradley <[hidden email]> writes >The KX3 mic input uses a multi barrel jack plug which enables up & down >channel changing using buttons on the hand mic. Switch to SSB first, then go into the menu to change the MIC BTN parameter?

Here in the US we can order a Mouser 171-7435-EX 4-conductor 3.5mm plug. Plenty in stock (over 2500). Cost is around $2.50 each plus shipping.

As was mentioned previously, select ssb then go to the menu. I had the same
issue and this solved my problem. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
