KX3 Not shutting down correctly

Hi all,

I have KX3 s/n 5464 running firmware 1.79, I find that when I turn the radio off I see a row of ***** astrix’s (can’t spell) appear on the VFO B display area, reading the manual this would indicate that the KX3 has not shutdown correctly, I have tried a forced firmware load but when I get to step 4 in the manual and open the KX3 utility all I get is the KX3 is not responding and nothing else happens.

I am running OSX 10.9.1 and the latest version of the KX3 utility


Any advice welcome
