I use my KX3 only in a
fixed environment. The need to push two buttons for Power On can be rather awkward.I can see need in portable op but is there a work around for just one button Power On operation? Also I installed firmware MCU1.61/DSP1.23 .For those who use AM,which is probably few, the firmware now makes AM work quite well on the KX3.Thanks Elecraft!!Cheers..Larry ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

No, sorry; it's implemented in hardware. But I think once you're used to using the combination you won't even need to think about it. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Larry,
The power on circuitry of the KX3 is a function of hardware, so changing it to only 1 switch would require a modification to the control printed circuit board. 73, Lyle KK7P --- I can see need in portable op but is there a work around for just one button Power On operation? ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

You could also build something to apply power to the PTT line and turn it
on: "To turn the KX3 on, a remote-control system can place 8 to 12 volts DC on the mic jack’s PTT line for 100 ms or longer." kx3 owner's manual, revision c2, page 28. Power off would still be two buttons, or require a CAT command. -- Phil kj6pon On Wed, Oct 23, 2013 at 8:53 PM, Lyle <[hidden email]> wrote: > Larry, > > The power on circuitry of the KX3 is a function of hardware, so changing > it to only 1 switch would require a modification to the control printed > circuit board. > > 73, > > Lyle KK7P > > --- > > I can see need in portable op but is there a work around for just one > button Power On operation? > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
