There has been a flurry of questions about the KX3. I do
not remember seeing this one. Does anyone know if the KX3 will mount to the 100w PA/ATU to create a single unit for fixed operation ? 73 Gene K1NR --------------------------------------------------------------------- Web mail provided by NuNet, Inc. You'd be best buying a K3, Gene. The KX3 lends itself particularly for
those interested in backpacking, portable or mobile use or for those with restricted shack space. The K3 'K-line' is likely to remain Elecraft's 'Rolls Royce' transceiver. Doubtless there will be those who advocate a 'KX-line' comprising a KX3, KXP3, KXPA1500, etc. but it is unlikely to satisfy people on here who would like a bigger K3 more suitable for their fat fingers. The KX1 is a fine little rig but those without code competence will find the KX3 better for backbacking, etc. 73 de David G4DMP In a recent message, Eugene Balinski <[hidden email]> writes > >There has been a flurry of questions about the KX3. The KXPA100 is a separate stand-alone unit that does not mount on the KX3.

Re "the KX3 is designed to be a super-compact user interface that sits on the operating desk, and the 100w PA/ATU can be anywhere, like under the desk." Hopefully, it will be remote-capable like at the base of your vertical out in the back yard, at the feedpoint of your attic or tower mounted dipole, etc. And hopefully, it will be directly compatible with a K2/10 and K3/10. Wishing and hoping... 73, Henry - K4TMC -----Original Message----- From: Jim Brown <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Sun, May 22, 2011 1:04 pm Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KX3 Fixed Ops On 5/22/2011 9:01 AM, Eugene Balinski wrote: > Does anyone know if the KX3 > will mount to the 100w PA/ATU to create a single unit for > fixed operation ? Speaking of the KXPA100, I've not seen any information as to projected
size and weight of it. Have I missed something (easy to do right now), or is it still too early even for preliminary information? 73, doug On 22-May-11 16:57, Robert Friess wrote: > The KXPA100 is a separate stand-alone unit that does not mount on the KX3. > > 73, > Bob, N6CM > > On Sun, May 22, 2011 at 9:01 AM, Eugene Balinski<[hidden email]> wrote: > >> There has been a flurry of questions about the KX3. It's about 3"H x 5"W x 9"L, and I'm checking the weight. QRX.

The KXPA100 will probably weigh less than 5 pounds.

So, a KX3 and KXPA100 could both fit into a large "manpurse"/laptop bag,
for circumventing carry-on weight limitations! Win! 73, doug On 23-May-11 17:20, Wayne Burdick wrote: >>It's about 3"H x 5"W x 9"L, and I'm checking the weight.
