I started construction at 1300 and took a break at 1515 to deliver
the wife's van to our local garage for oil change/lube tomorrow. I
fed the dogs after getting back home then supper and a movie. Got
back to working on the KX3 at 2030 and finished at 2300 (all local
times). This included installing the KXAT3 auto-tuner and KXFL3 dual
bw filter. 4.75 hours which was not rushed (I am meticulous on
reading each step and measuring each machine screw before completing a step).
The most challenging is the initial installation of standoffs on the
control panel. I found a couple steps that need additional
instruction, but overall a very good assembly manual. I stopped
short of applying power and calibrating the filter. That may wait
until Tuesday when I'm off work. I may close up the radio and apply
power tomorrow and take a quick listen on the receiver. Some parts
listed were not included (and not used in the assembly), so should be
deleted in the parts listing.
Things lined up extremely well which is the same experience I had
assembling my K3. The battery case screws were a little hard to get aligned.
I will check into the Sunday SSB Net next time with the KX3 and then
the K3 for comparison.
