KX3: can the ATU be read out?

Holger Schurig
Probably a nonsense idea ... but hey, I'm ready to put public shame on me!

Imagine a setup with a KX3 with KXAT3 and some random antenna. Now you
press ATU TUNE and the tuner does is job.

Now, wouldn't it be nice if I could get back the L / C setting choosen
by KXAT3 somehow?  Either menu, or via the serial command interface?
Wouldn't I then know "Oh, L is high, this antenna is too short" or
vica versa? Or, in other word, could a KX3+KXAT3 used as an extremely
simple antenna analyzer?

On the K3 you sort of can do that. With KAT3=AUTO, do your tuning. Then
change KAT3=LC SET, exit from config, press ATU TUNE and it will show L
and C. Maybe the KX3 can do that as well? Remember to set it back to
AUTO :)

The KX3 doesn't seem to replicate the KAT3=LC SET feature of the K3. Maybe
in the future?

Rick,

I hope to add this to the KX3 at some point. It would be useful in
further peaking up broadcast-band stations.
