KX3 portable clipboard light

Mel
I have put together a simple white LED bar on the bottom of the KX3.  No holes, it clips over the bottom thumbs screws.  Runs off of 9 to 16 VDC @ 25 mA, regulated by a LM7808.  I have a schematic and pictures for those interested.  BTW the bar is a plastic DIP IC stick with a AL sheetmetal plate to make the attachment.  Simple tools.

Re: KX3 portable clipboard light

I found at Field Day I needed the front panel illuminated as well as my clipboard. I have rigged a small LED on a 6" goose neck attached to the power plug. Works well enough that I can turn off the KX3's internal backlight making the total power load unchanged.
