I see that Elecraft has beefed up the heat sink on the KX3. I like the idea of using the KX3 as an alternative radio for use with my favorite digital modes, JT65 and JT9. I do not want an external heat sink, like many offer as an add on. What will the newer heat sink allow with the KX3? Still 5 watts or less, or will it let me go to 10 watts, safely, in these modes (or, PSK and RTTY)? I know it's better, but HOW much better?
Second question: will the mic that can be ordered with the KX3 work on a K3?
Right now, I am inclined to stick with my little KX1 for field operations. I like the KX3, but it seems a bit pricey to me for what I do.
