We have just updated our shipping status page with the following
information: --- KX3 shipments are estimated to begin mid-March 2012 and can be ordered on our secure order form. We are waiting for final delivery of several KX3 components before production shipping begins. Assembled and Kit KX3s are built on parallel production lines. Orders for each type will be shipped in the same order they are received. We will email customers shortly before their KX3 is ready to ship to confirm their order information. Credit cards will not be charged until product ships, unless otherwise instructed by the customer. You may add items to your KX3 order at any time via our secure order form (or by email to [hidden email] or by direct phone call.) Please reference your original order confirmation number and your callsign (if any) when adding items or changing your order --- 73, -- Eric --- www.elecraft.com ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

of the kx3 thanks chris G0WFH |
Tomorrow is Monday the 19th. Maybe things will "pop" :)
I am anxiously awaiting my confirmation e-mail. Every time my phone bleeps I'll check HI. We'll see what happens this week. I am sure the Elecraft crew is just as excited as we are to get things rolling. I trust we will get them when Elecraft gets all their ducks in a row and determines they're fit for their customers - no sooner. I'm anxious but I can wait. Steve, KC8QVO |

Our normally very reliable PCB fabricator mis-drilled one of the boards and is working overtime replacing them. (No, we won't be posting their phone number on this list :) Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Oh, but that would be too much fun HI. I am sure everything will work out in the end. Thanks for the note Wayne. Steve, KC8QVO |

Just part of manufacturing and production engineering. :-) We had
4-layer boards [signals on the outside, pwr and gnd in the middle to cut down crosstalk], and in the prototypes, multiple thrus got plated to the inside layers. Hey ... prototypes ... we used a couple of marine 12V batteries and burned the plating off so we could use them for testing. The board house sweated the bullets and fixed it for our customers. I've always thought the design engineers should spend some time with the manufacturing engineers. Just because you can think it up doesn't mean you can make it, in quantity, at a profit. For the record, I'm retired from neither design nor manufacturing engineering. I just admire my E-radios. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2012 Cal QSO Party 6-7 Oct 2012 - www.cqp.org On 3/18/2012 7:04 PM, Wayne Burdick wrote: > Yes. I'm in the contract electronic manufacturing business and I've been with
the same company for ~26 years. I see a LOT of new manufacturing projects crossing my desk each year. This is nothing unusual and it's why you do prototypes. Most people don't realize the manufacturing process steps needed to build a PCB, particularly a multilayer board. I agree Fred...there does need to be some hand-holding between design and manufacturing engineering. My favorite saying is that, "anyone can build one, but can you build 1000?" I mentioned this to Wayne at Dayton last year...the company that fabricates and assembles Elecraft's PC Boards is absolutely first rate. I examined the K3 boards under a magnifying lens. Thanks, Gary. Yes, they do great work. We always hope that boards will
turn out perfectly in fabrication, and this time it didn't, but the company dealt with it immediately. Well tomorrow brings the 28th. No e-mail today.

I would rather them get things right than rush the product out into the field. Hope you're listening, Elecraft...

There is an update, if it wasn't found already, on the shipping status page 3/28 - the new boards are in and they mention being on track for shipments starting towards the end of the week.
