I went to MENU. DUAL RX is OFF.
Both a and b vfo are within 10 kc on 40 M SSB How to I change OFF to AUTO? I have never tried this before. Manual just says do it. Narrow filter is installed but should be disabled by SSB mode. I need the magic switch? Direct please so I do not have to wait for the Digest. John,
Like all other menu changes, bring up the menu and dial to DUAL RX with VFO B knob. Then turn the VFO A knob to change the parameter. Exit the menu. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/18/2013 11:58 PM, John Buck wrote: > I went to MENU. DUAL RX is OFF. > > Both a and b vfo are within 10 kc on 40 M SSB > > How to I change OFF to AUTO? Thank you Don for your courteous and detailed reply.
My problem turned out to be that RX SHFT was on. I was getting unexpected results when I performed the procedure according to the manual. I failed to recognize the RX SHFT response as an error code. After I duplicated your suggestion (as per the book), I knew I was doing it properly and was still missing something. I finally realized that I had the RX SHFT parameter enabled on this band. Of course, the book states that Dual RX and RX SHFT are incompatible and the SHFT must be off. Corrected that and all is well. Brain lapse corrected. To those who could not resist RTFM type comments, I can only say that as a long time early adopter of Elecraft I am fully aware of the necessity to read the manual fully. I have done so several times. On the day I sent my frustrated request for help, I had spent another two hours with the manual and KX3 and continually misinterpreted the error message. I was disappointed with the fact that I received several RTFM type comments without any useful information pointing to the real error that I knew I must be making repeatedly. Recognizing how these RTFM comments made me feel makes me very glad that I have refrained numerous times from making such comments when I thought it probably was appropriate. Again Don, I thank you for your ever courteous and accurate responses to those of us who sometimes go down the wrong path and miss the obvious even after reading the manual numerous times. There were also a K2/100 and a KX1 moved on to new happy users. John,
I am sorry that I forgot about the RX SHIFT which turns off Dual RX. I am glad that you found the problem source. Yes, reading the manual is important, but there are subtle things like RX SHIFT disables Dual RX that are not apparent at first sight. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/21/2013 6:00 PM, John Buck wrote: > Thank you Don for your courteous and detailed reply. > My problem turned out to be that RX SHFT was on. > > I was getting unexpected results when I performed the procedure > according to the manual. Hi John,
I second that! Don't we all know how it feels to miss that one line in a manual and then being directed the right way?
