Kit for kids

Alan Price-3

I had a discussion with Eric several months ago about that subject.  My first radio was a Heathkit AR-3!  It got me started in a hobby that has lasted many years.  I was first licensed in 1957.

My 10 yr. old lad, Charles, WA2CJC wants to "solder sump'n!" Oh dear... Be
afraid, be very afraid - hihi. I think I have a spare NorCal or Wilderness
kit tucked away somewhere in the garage... Along with some fire
extinguishers.

Re: Kit for kids

Terry Schieler
Correct, Bert.  Besides, I think most of us were using irons with wood burning kits (remember those) when we were around 7 or 8.  Not much difference in the heat of a wood burning iron and a 25W soldering iron except for the recommended safety goggles.

And, fire extinguishers were probably more necessary with the wood burning kits!  ;o)
