I had a discussion with Eric several months ago about that subject. My first radio was a Heathkit AR-3! It got me started in a hobby that has lasted many years. I was first licensed in 1957. 73 Alan W1HYV ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
My 10 yr. old lad, Charles, WA2CJC wants to "solder sump'n!" Oh dear... Be
afraid, be very afraid - hihi. I think I have a spare NorCal or Wilderness kit tucked away somewhere in the garage... Along with some fire extinguishers. Correct, Bert. Besides, I think most of us were using irons with wood burning kits (remember those) when we were around 7 or 8. Not much difference in the heat of a wood burning iron and a 25W soldering iron except for the recommended safety goggles.
And, fire extinguishers were probably more necessary with the wood burning kits! ;o) 73 and Happy Turkey!
