I received 9 responses with offers to build the K2 and/or the KX1. In addition I received 3 or 4 other responses directing me to builders. I appreciate all responses. I need to put all the information into a spreadsheet (I'm a former accountant) so I can quickly compare the various responses. Some quoted prices, others needed more information.
Here's more information: KX1 -Includes the 30M adapter. This kit has not been started. The box has been opened but all parts are in original parts bags and/or wrappings. The owners manual is REV A 10/10/03. The serial number may be 000100 if that's what that number on the box is? K2 - a very early kit which includes the following manuals: Rev A - 06/14/99 REV C - 04/19/00 The original owner must have ordered the newer ones later! REV E - 02/16/03 The original owner sorted and checked all parts and has them in boxes in envelopes identifying the contents of each. A set of prewound coils is in there too. There is also a box identified as "Revision B Components kit". In this kit components are all in original bags or wrappings. It has a new serial number of 03309. The original owner included a literal "mountain" of printed messages from the various Elcraft reflectors. The actual building of the kit has not been started. No soldering gun, wire cutters, screw drivers etc have ever approached this kit! :-) Frankly with all the various changes that have occurred I would not know where to start. Again thanks for the interest shown in this project. For those who needed more information before quoting a price let me know if what I provided above is sufficient. Those who inquired if I had received their messages, be assured I did but the response has been a bit overwhelming. For now I'm posting this to the reflector rather than respond to each of you individually. 73, Puck, W4PM ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I suspect that the K2 was originally a Rev. A kit and the original
owner also purchased the Rev B upgrade Kit which included new pc boards and the additional components required for the Rev B boards (I recall that a complete set of resistors was included), so there will definitely be some parts left over. The upgrades received a new serial number and that one is close to mine (#3273), which I built as a Rev B upgrade. There is a set of upgrade instructions on the Elecraft web site. 73, Bob N7XY On Jul 25, 2009, at 1:32 PM, H. M.
