I have the FT 900 knob on my K2 and love it including the dimple. HOWEVER
for ease of quick tuning and better filter selection, I love the N4PY software to control my K2. Just can't be beat for ease of operation. I'm partial to the Stock Knob with a finger dimple, I've also played with a
friends that has the Yaesu knob, but with the weight and ease of spinning on that knob it's great for screaming across the band, but very touchy when fine tuning. Of course I much prefer sitting here using Peter and Simon's wonderful HRD to run the rig. Gregg R. I like my FT 900 knob (see my website www.qsl.net/w3fpr), but this is the
one that needs the added 'drag' pad thickness, and has no depression for a 'finger-dimple'. I have seen the rubber tire from the Yaesu FT-900 knob placed aroung the stock K2 knob - it takes a wee bit of stretch, but it fits, and looks good. That also would have solved my real problem which is irritation of my thumb from the rather sharp front corner of the stock K2 knob - I just don't use a finger dimple even if it is available, each to his own. 73, Don W3FPR _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Ham Radio Deluxe....it's a wonderful program for running any radio. It also
includes logging, PSK31Deluxe, mapper and other things and it's freeware. Here's the website for their BBS and you can download it from there. Lot's of neat things in it, try it you'll like it. http://www.ham-radio.ch/forums/ Gregg R. Here is me thinking that an HRD (later to become Vincent, HRD) is a pre WWII
British motorcycle and how on earth it could run a K2? I had a BSA Gold Star. Single cylinder 500cc bike. Leaked oil nicely;
like a good English bike should. The starting procedure was quite refined also. Parts fell off as you rode. At times the vibrations got so bad the timing would jump out of sync and you'd be stuck by the side of the road rebuilding and timing your motor. But the best was Lighting by Lucas, Prince of Darkness! I miss it!! I don't think the PIC chips would stay in their sockets if you took your K2 on a trip. Kevin. KD5ONS I miss riding my friend's Ariel Square Four too. Well, to me, HRD is Hood River Distilleries, and you really want to stay away from their stuff. -- Hisashi T Fujinaka - [hidden email] BSEE(6/86) + BSChem(3/95) + BAEnglish(8/95) + MSCS(8/03) + $2.50 = latte _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Gee, that sounds a lot like my MG-B, Lucas electrics, SU carbs and all. There is nothing more exciting than having a throttle linkage break as you're trying to accelerate onto a freeway!
