Lee's HiJack Mail

k0wa@swbell.net

A bunch of people got these and then I got hacked to.  I have changed my
password and that is about the only thing you can do.  Sorry folks....the
Internet is the Wild, Wild  West.

In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply.  If you don't
have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it.  If you can't find any
Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common Sense.  Is Common
Sense divine?

Common Sense is the image of the Creator expressing revealed truth in my mind.

Lee I gotta disagree with you.
The best thing to do, and this has been preached before Al Gore discover the internet.

DO NOT OPEN LINKS that looks suspecting.
If you have doubts, don't open it!!!!
If you just can't resist yourself, then run it through your Virus Protection System.
Everyone should have some sort of Anti Virus on their machine! I hope!!!!!

OPENING suspecting LINKS is giving the spammers the ability to use your address book as they wish.

We need to take responsibility for our actions.

My fingers and toes are crossed as I write this, but ...

I've never been "hacked" ... to my knowledge... and never had
any form of "virus" problem.  FWIW, I use Norton 360, and it's
configured to auto-update, and it alerts me often that it's blocked
an "attack".

Re: Lee's HiJack Mail

Keith Heimbold
Been hacked once on Facebook and I now never open strange links.  It was supposedly from my cousin who saw me at a concert which I actually attended and turned out to be Turkish porn that was sent to all my relatives including older folks. I was so embarrassed when Uncle Pete in Sheboygan emailed me and asked why I would send him porn. Yikes!

Never again I have vowed!!  So all weird links even from my own mother are deleted.

I've seen a lot of what appear to be hijacked accounts reported in
the past couple of weeks and the common item is then all seem to be
Yahoo emails.  The fix most report is that they simply changed their
Yahoo password.  No proof, but this is circumstantial evidence like some
of the passwords on the Yahoo servers have been compromised.  It's
probably a good idea for us all to change our Yahoo passwords.  Just an
observation based on what I've seen here and also on other discussion
groups . . . Yahoo emails seem to be the common denominator!

Re: Lee's HiJack Mail

Jim Rhodes-2
Years ago I belonged to a couple of reflectors on Yahoo. Then when I
changed ISP's I did not resubscribe as a lot if not most of the spam I
received seemed to come to the address that I did nothing but reflectors
with. Now my spam is about 1% of what it used to be. And the ISP sorts most
of it out for me before I see it. As always YMMV. And I dropped AOL like a
hot rock when the first local ISP opened up.

With some people, Milverton, they don't know enough to know that
something is suspect!  Some are too trusting, and assume that because it
says it is from uncle Fred, that uncle Fred actually sent it, and Fred
doesn't have a mean bone in his body.  There is more than one hint in
these recent messages, including the address itself, and the fact that
it is usually just a one liner indicating that you have to go to a
linked site to see something.

Get street smart when it comes to the internet.  I still maintain, that
it is like driving, flying, and other things.  Some people just "don't
belong" on the internet.  And that's not to point a finger at ANYONE
specifically.
