Left-handed amputations

Remember the quote I found and put into both the solicitation and report
regarding left-handers being more accident prone, and more likely to amputate fingers and thumbs with power tools? I volunteer at the local blood center, and today a woman came in to donate. Her husband was with her on crutches, with one of those full-leg heavy splints with the foam rubber on his right leg. He saw my leg brace and after I had told him my story, I asked him if he had had knee surgery. He said, "No, unfortunately I tried to amputate my leg with a power saw." I asked him, "Are you left handed?" He said, "Why yes, I am ... very much so. How did you know?" He seemed to be in some amount of pain, and I decided it best to let it go with, "Just a lucky guess." As I recall most power tools are made for right-hand folks which makes them
awkward for south-paws at best. I figured that is the reason left-handers are so accident prone. It is
sometimes difficult to adjust to a right-handed world. I'm a woodworker and have found myself in awkward situations because of being left-handed. However, I NEVER pull the switch until I think about what would happen if I slipped or otherwise lost my balance. Both the M1 and the M14 were awkward for me. I had to laugh at the comment by the ex-Marine who told Fred the M1 had a habit of ejecting hot casings into his shirt. Definitely been there more than once. BTW, to me the K1 is a right-handed rig. A number of people on here mentioned that they tune the K1 by resting the last 3 fingers of their right hand on top of the rig and tuning with right thumb and forefinger. Because of the assymetrical panel on the K1, this doesn't work with the left hand as your hand covers up the LCD as you tune. Not an issue with the K2 as the front panel is symmetrical. As a former lefty (redirected as a youngster), and father of a son
who was redirected by non-realizing pre-school righties, I definitely can sympathize. But, what does this topic have to do with Elecraft products? Can we please move on? And I didn't! Later I came to appreciate that when I saw a leftie get a series of hot spent shell casing down the collar of his fatigue jacket. And I thought having them bounce of the steel pot would have been the worst of it! Later I taught the M1 and was no more forgiving than my instructor.
