Looking for QRP Balun

Terry Domae
Hi  - I've been using a radiowavz "QRP DX 40-10" 4:1 balun. It's not on
their product sheet.
It will handle 100w ssb, 25w cw. Its about 4" long and 1.5" in diameter.
Very light. Just looks like a smaller version of their full power baluns.

I use it to feed a portable OCF dipole. I understand they sell this to
TenTec for their portable multiband qrp antenna.  You need to contact
radiowavz directly to purchase it. I've been using it for a few months now
with some extended use like the cqww-ssb and it seems to be ok. I don't
know about how weather proof it is - time will tell.

You can also build one - pretty easy - checkout the 4:1 balun design that
was published with articles associated with this antenna:
http://www.hamuniverse.com/k4iwlnewwindom.html   I built several of these
antennas and balun for field use. I purchased the radiowavz one for the
nicer package.

Terry, NS6D

I'm looking for a small 4:1 QRP balun to use with my KX3 (hence, it needs
> only 10 watt power capability). Can anyone direct me to a design or an

Ed and All,

Here is a link to a bunch of variations on 4:1 baluns you can construct
yourself.

http://www.google.com/search?q=4:1+balun&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=6PqXUNXAPM-l2AW454DoBQ&ved=0CDUQsAQ&biw=1463&bih=709

As for something commercial, the Elecraft BL-1 is a good option, and it can
be constructed as either a 1:1 or 4:1--your choice.  The BL-2 is better yet,
as it is switchable!
