Loss of power on PSK

After 40+ years in ham radio, finally decided I needed a microphone for
the QRP SSB contests.  Bought a Heil from Elecraft, installed the
resistor and now can’t get more than ½ watt power when using PSK.  Any
suggestions?  Thanks!!
