It seems that my fully equipped backpack with my KX3, serial 0076 is missing
from my garage. I don't hold out any hopes of getting it back, but I thought I would pass this along anyway. 73, Dick, WN3R ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Start checking you local Craigslist, pawn shops and eBay. Also, give the
police a call, because at least around here, the pawn shops are supposed to call certain items in. I wish you luck. I've had ham gear stolen before (when I was a broke kid, by an older "friend" [KA9ALC, SK]), and it sucks. 73, Scott, N9AA On 3/9/14 1:35 PM, Dick, WN3R wrote: > It seems that my fully equipped backpack with my KX3, serial 0076 is missing > from my garage. Hopefully, "it seems" will be the operative term,
Dick. It often is in my case: Most things I can't find -- especially in my garage or shack (off the garage) -- eventually turn up elsewhere in my possession. Sometimes having rigs that fit *in* something is a disadvantage. But I must admit to a certain lack of organization :-) 73, Phil w7ox On 3/9/14, 10:35 AM, Dick, WN3R wrote: > It seems that my fully equipped backpack with my KX3, serial 0076 is missing > from my garage. Be sure to report this to the police. Since it was inside your home (actually, your garage) at the time of the loss, you can probably get reimbursed by your homeowner's insurance, but you have to report the loss to the police before most insurers will pay. Depending on your policy, there may not be much deductible, if any. Check the local pawn shops, Craig's list, eBay, etc. - you may find it. Was anything else missing? If not, then that is an indication that someone was looking for that specific item. Ask other hams that you trust to keep their eyes open. Someone stole a TS-120 from my Chevy Blazer several years ago. I got it back a couple of weeks later, with blown finals. I was able to determine who was responsible, and gave him the choice of paying for factory repairs or going to jail. He was a CB "good buddy" type teenager. - Jim, KL7CC On 3/9/2014 9:35 AM, Dick, WN3R wrote: > It seems that my fully equipped backpack with my KX3, serial 0076 is > missing from my garage. HI Dick:
Ouch! I hope you are able to recover your rig. Certainly, it's disappearance should be reported to local police. Now.... someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but each rig has it's serial number as a menu item... and I'm assuming that there is no way for that to be changed... or easily changed. Clearly, at some point in the manufacturing process, a serial number is applied to the memory in the rig. Is that "burned-in".. or is it in some memory area that could be altered? At the very least, Elecraft has the data record of the first buyer of each unit. I suggest it would be a good thing for anyone who sells his KX3 or K3 to inform Elecraft, to document the transfer of ownership. 73 de Ray K2ULR KX3 #211 On Mar 9, 2014, at 1:35 PM, Dick, WN3R wrote: > It seems that my fully equipped backpack with my KX3, serial 0076 > is missing > from my garage.
