MFJ-434B DVK wiring to K3

Mark Pride
Anyone here have experience wiring up the MFJ-434B Digital Voice Keyer to a K3?

At one time I had learned the K3 mic plug was the same as Kenwood.

Regards,

Mark, K1RX

Re: MFJ-434B DVK wiring to K3

Mark,

The K3 mic input is *compatible* with Kenwood unpowered dynamic mics,
but that does mean it is the *same*.

If the MFJ DVR is expecting voltage on the mic jack pin 5 (the voltage
pin from Kenwood), it will fail.  The Elecraft mic pinout is *almost*
the same as Kenwood - except that the source of +8 volts is on pin 6 for
the Elecraft pinout and pin 5 for the Kenwood.

I don't know if that is your problem, but it is worth investigating.

K3 - Intermittently, using Band switch to return to 40M and the mode is in USB

K9QJS
I am scratching my head.

Occasionally and intermittently, when I use the band switch to return to 40M, the mode will be in USB rather than LSB.

Obviously I only operate on 40M in LSB, and that would mean that the last time that I was on 40M, it would have been in mode LSB.

So what could I be doing that result in this happening.

Thanks in advance,
