Elecrafters.
I am fairly new in the K3 world and still in the learning phase but I noted the following: When programming a memory one of the parameters that doesn't get stored is what input you are using. Let me explain myself. I love using MIXW software on psk. Why? well when you log a qso in PSK mode, the actual frequency that you are transmitting on in the PSK mode is logged (Example: instead of 14.070 MHZ you would have 14.0715). MIXW does not have a K3 entry but it does have a K2 entry under Kenwood which allows the K3's frequency, and mode to automatically entered into the software. MIXW then calculates the actual output frequency by adding the audio frequency to the base 14.070. Because of the software's limitation to only the K2, I cannot select DATA mode from that software. If I force the K3 into DATA mode then the frequencies are all wrong. Because of the above I use the USB mode and select the LINE-IN input, cut the CMP to 0 and adjust the computer output or mic gain for proper driving. I fully understand that the DATA-A mode only allows LINE-IN input to be selected and automatically cuts compression, but I really do like having the actual frequency in the log. I have had many very enjoyable qsos this way with very good reports and can use the Width and Shift to filter out any unwanted qrm. So, Would it be possible to include the input selection in memory? I too like MixW for similar reasons. I imagine Nick Fedoseev would not
require much persuasion to write support for the K3. That might be a better way forward. 73 Stephen G4SJP On 01/06/2008 12:17, "David Robertson" <[hidden email]> wrote: > Elecrafters. > > I am fairly new in the K3 world and still in the learning phase but I noted > the following: > > When programming a memory one of the parameters that doesn't get stored is > what input you are using. > > Let me explain myself. > > I love using MIXW software on psk. Why not configure MixW to just change frequency and you (the operator)
select the Data mode and just leave it there? Simon Brown, HB9DRV -------------------------------------------------- From: "Stephen Prior" <[hidden email]> > I too like MixW for similar reasons.
