It's the same thread as an SO-239 connector. There are caps available. See
eBay item # 150780563154 for an example. 73, Bruce, N1RX * * *If anyone knows of a supplier for a Cover that goes over the Mic Conn. on the front of a K2 or K3, I would appreciate hearing from you. * * * ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Jim,
Easiest and cheapest would be to go to Radio Shack and get a mic connector, break it to get the collar, then fashion a small circle out of sheet metal to fit the opening in the collar. You can then leave it silver in color or paint it. Also, put a tab of electrical tape on the inside to prevent shorting pins. I did exactly this on my K2 and it worked great! Also, sheet metal can also be used to fashion covers for unused options. 73, David KC9EHQ K1-4 #2051 K2/10 #7164 Jim Harris <[hidden email]> wrote: >*Good afternoon, Folks.* >* >* >*If anyone knows of a supplier for a Cover that goes over the Mic Conn. on >the front of a K2 or K3, I would appreciate hearing from you. * >* >* >*I am a CW Op. only and would like to cover these Mic Conn. with some kind >of screw-on Cover to keep the Pins from collecting dust or whatever.* >* >* >*Thanks and best 73.* >*Jim........* >*WA4NTM* >______________________________________________________________ >Elecraft mailing list >Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft >Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm >Post: mailto:[hidden email] > >This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net >Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Even easier: Why not just get a screw-on UHF connector cap?
Fits perfectly, and it's the best "mike connector protector" ever - it makes sure a mike is never attached to my K2 so it can be used only for CW... :)))) (sorry couldn't resist. No disrespect intended towards other modes) Seriously, the cap is a perfect fit. I can't remember where I got mine but it was likely from a Diamond Antenna mobile mount, and I suspect you can find them elsewhere. If you can't, I will mai you one of my spares. Here's a photo of it "in action" http://maineware.net/k2 And sadly, the K2 is for sale... but it just doesn't see any use now that I have a KX3 / K3 pair. 73, --Andrew, NV1B .. Hi Jim,
I took a ring from a standard microphone plug and soldered a 1980 bronze 1 dutch cent coin on it, that fits perfectly on the ring. The current "eurocent", which is 15 mm in diameter would fit also. I did that for the same reason you describe... 73, Peter PA0PJE Op 10-11-12 20:24, Jim Harris schreef: > *Good afternoon, Folks.* > * > * > *If anyone knows of a supplier for a Cover that goes over the Mic Conn. on > the front of a K2 or K3, I would appreciate hearing from you. * > * > * > *I am a CW Op. only and would like to cover these Mic Conn. with some kind > of screw-on Cover to keep the Pins from collecting dust or whatever.* > * > * > *Thanks and best 73.* > *Jim........* > *WA4NTM* > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
