Microphone and K2

ghaffly
Have a rat shack mike with only 2 wires , an audio and ground wire.
According to mic schematic the on / off switch is parallel to the audio and
the on / off is a slide switch inside the mic.
Currently have the mic audio to pin 1 and mic ground to pins 7 and 8 at the
mic connector. I know in this configuration
there is not PTT wired. I assume I need to wire Pins 1 and 2 together at the
mic connector to get a PTT connection
to P1. What jumper settings on P1 should get this configuration to work ?
Tried several and no luck yet on any setting.

Glenn,

I would suggest wiring the mic configuration header straight across for all
pins to be used - use the little computer type jumpers.

Wire the mic plug with your PTT switch between pin 2 and ground (use pin
7) - AF to pin 1 and AF Return to pin 7.
If the RS mic is an dynamic type, that is all you need.  If the mic is an
electret type, you need a jumper on the mic header between the +5 volt
header pin and mic jack pin 6 (again for the Elecraft standard
configuration) - but you will need a resistor on the inside of the mic jack
between pin 6 and pin 1 - use 5600 ohms although 10k will likely do the job
too and there was one packaged for that purpose in the KSB2 kit.

If you have not figured out the mic configuation header yet, you can wire
any mic jack pin to any of the signal lines - the signal names are on the
left side of the header and the mic pins are silk-screened on the right
side - if you know which pins your mic uses for which signal, match that mic
pin with the proper signal line at the configuration header.
