Well, since the first message I tried my other proset which I use for my FT
1000D. I noticed that it had a stereo 3.5 mm stereo plug on it which I use through a 1/4 inch adaptor. It worked fine on the K3! So I wonder if the proset which came with the K3 which has a mono 3.5 plug could be the problem? If so, is there a solution? I notice the package info said it was for the K2. Since the K2 does not have stereo as I recall it would make sense to have a mono plug on it. But does it work with the K3 which does have stereo capabilities? Bruce,
Are you putting the right plug into the right connector??? On the Elecraft Pro Set, the mono plug is for your microphone. The stereo plug is for your headphone. Put the mono plug into the mic connector on the back of the K3, and the stereo plug into the headphone jack on the back. Turn on the Bias to the rear connectors via the menu (the Elecraft Pro Set is an electret microphone). You should be good to go! It sounded to me from your post that you were plugging the stereo plug into the mic connector, which is probably why the light came on. And, of course, plugging the mono mic plug into the headphone jack would mean no sound output. Maybe I didn't understand your post, but that's what it seemed you were saying. The proset, even for the K2, has a stereo connector for the headphones
and a mono connector for the mic. I purchased one from Elecraft for the K2, and it is working well on the rear panel connectors of the K3.
