Hi All,
I got back from California and finally got to see my K3--or at least the parts for it! By the way, my brother is better for the time being, and my thanks to those of you who sent best wishes. He's got serious problems to deal with, but for now he is stable. Anyway, I have K3 serial number (drum roll please) 96! As several of you noted, it was penciled on the inside flap of the carton, but my XYL didn't even see it with her bad eyes and bad light! So that will take it's honored place next to my K2 #72, K1 #44, and KX1 #163 (I think--can't remember that one for sure right now). I think it's pretty obvious that the last few weeks have been pretty hectic for the folks in Aptos. I bet when they go home at night the dog hides under a bed! I've actually been home a couple of days, but I caught a bad cold in the process, so I haven't felt like doing anything except curling up with a bottle of Robitussen. I'm about ready to tackle things now though, so maybe by the weekend I'll have my K3 percolating. It's a strange feeling though not having to get out the soldering iron! Ron,
I like the idea of the rosin scented candles. And, with the Elecraft logo, and a nice box, these would make great gift ideas for a ham. 73, Henry - K4TMC -----Original Message----- From: Ron D'Eau Claire <[hidden email]> To: 'Elecraft Reflector' <[hidden email]> Sent: Fri, 30 Nov 2007 12:12 am Subject: RE: [Elecraft] Mystery Solved Dave W7AQK wrote: I'm about ready to tackle things now though, so maybe by the weekend I'll have my K3 percolating. It's a strange feeling though not having to get out the soldering iron! ----------------------- Have fun! It's okay to fire up the soldering iron! From time to time reach over and touch it with the solder so a little puff of rosin smoke floats up to sooth the end of that cold! (Just don't touch the soldering iron to anything that goes inside your K3.) Maybe Elecraft should offer rosin-scented candles or aerosol cans as an option -- sort of a Ham's version of "new car smell".
