N6TV to the rescue

Neil Foster-2
I have been using Bob's "S" box for some time and could not be happier.
Recently I decided to replace a non Elecraft radio with mty K3s/P3 station
with a non Elecraft (brand "X") ๐Ÿ˜€
I ran into some issues and wrote to Bob. He responded quickly, snt a new
Block Diagram and then followed with a phone call until we had everything
running perfectly. It took some time and Bob was patient with this 86+ year
old geezer. Even after I have been in the hobby for 61 years you can learn
from folks definitely smarter than we are. I have a fun saying, I call the
smart guys a Wizard, Well Bob would have to be titled an EXALTED WIZARD.
If you are not familiar with his units and have multiple radios his box
works like a charm, check them out. Thanks Bob, you done good!!

Re: N6TV to the rescue

Wes Stewart-2
I don't know Bob, have never talked to him and don't use any of his products.ย
That said, his presentation at the 2020 QSO Today Expo is top rate, informative
and saved my bacon while setting up my TS-890 for RTTY.

The '890, unlike my K3(S) doesn't have an AFSK RTTY option.ย  It does have a
legacy RS-232 port, two "virtual" serial ports via USB and an Ethernet port.
(phew). Bob's presentation showed exactly how to configure the ports and MMTTY
for RTTY and it works flawlessly.

If you haven't seen this and you have any questions about ports and interfacing,
I highly recommend that you have a look.ย

N6TV is a very knowledge guy and he is very generous with his time. He
offers excellent technical advice on this list as well as others.

I have two Y-Boxes and they are awesome.

Bob is a 21st Century Leonardo Da Vinci ... not only an engineer and
generous with his time, but a top CW contester and a classically-trained
manualist.ย  Sadly, he seems to have accomplished what was heretofore
believed to be impossible and disappeared from the Internet.ย  His
rendition of the Overture to William Tell using only his hands is
unforgettable.

I can not overstate how great Bob N6TV is to work with--I asked him to
create some complex stuff using S-Box and Y-boxes, he provided schematics,
hookup charts, and cables labeled at both ends for EVERYTHING, and then
spent more hours explaing everything to me.  Just fantastic!

If I had seen his QSOToday presentation on Serial Ports years ago, it would
have saved me many hours of frustration learning his tips piecemeal over
the years one at a time.

Also, I have to give K6KR a shout for suggesting Gearmo port splitters to
me years ago--still in daily service here with zero hassle.
