NEW K2 JUST ARRIVED

BILL COCHRAN
Well my palms are sweaty and my heart is pounding as I pour through my new kit. I hope I can get through this build okay. I forgot how to take Resistance reading, I'm off to a good start.

Bill,

The K2 goes together just like any kit - one part at a time. Follow the
instructions in the manual (in order - no skipping) and be certain each
component value is correct and inserted into the proper holes, and do a good
job of soldering - that is all it takes.  Take your time and do not work if
you are not able to concentrate.

Enjoy the process, you will be rewarded when you finish.

73,
Don W3FPR

Yes, the K2 goes together just like any other kit ... But the result is
not like just any other kit!

It's easy Bill, approach it like your real estate job:
you begin by appraising the net worth of parts against the list;
then you heat up the pot for making it all come together;
then you finalize the deal with all the parts of the puzzle to agree
on everything and everything in it's place.
When that happens, you have a working radio!
(you don't need to "pass papers" on this one) smile

True confession - I didn't do the parts inventory.  I didn't have the
space or the ESD containers to sort them all out into little bins based
on species and gender.  I basically just launched into building.
Shameful, isn't it.  When it was time to put all the caps in the RF
board, I was forced to sort them into piles on my desk but that was
because I needed help with identifying each of them.  That was very
helpful and I did find a couple missing.

I just spent over three hours checking the parts off. There must be over
one million parts in this kit, give or take a few of course.
